Our services

Novis Vita offers psychiatric services as part of its healthcare offerings. Licensed Behavioral Health Medical Providers provide these services qualified to diagnose and prescribe treatments for behavioral, emotional, and mental disorders.

The process begins with a psychiatric evaluation, which is a crucial first step in the treatment journey. This evaluation lasts an hour and is structured with numerous questions to help the provider understand the patient's symptoms and challenges. The patient is asked to share their reasons for seeking help, and the provider will inquire about their symptoms, past treatments, medical history, family medical history, education, and social background. If a patient has severe thoughts of suicide or harming others, they are advised not to wait to schedule an appointment but to immediately seek help by calling the crisis line.

The primary goal of Novis Vita's psychiatric services is to provide diagnosis and medication management. However, medication is just one option. Alternative strategies, complementary therapies, and referrals to counseling or holistic treatments may also be considered. Follow-up appointments typically last 30 minutes and focus on assessing the patient's progress, mood, sleep, and any side effects of prescribed medications. It is important to note that each person is unique, and the effectiveness of psychotropic medications can vary. Patients have the right to refuse medication if they choose.

When attending appointments, patients are asked to bring all their medication bottles, over-the-counter medications, and supplements. Novis Vita is committed to supporting patients on their mental health journey.

Treatment will include an introduction to continuously achieving a substance-free quality of life developing a relapse prevention plan while establishing a consistent alcohol/drug-free lifestyle using the “Living in Balance” curriculum or the provider’s approval of an evidence-based curriculum. At least one individual counseling is to be provided bi-weekly, and one family counseling is to be provided monthly in addition to the therapeutic group. Co-occurring issues, including, but not limited to, trauma, domestic violence, and mental illness, will also be addressed where applicable.

  • Recovery Maintenance

Requires client participation in a minimum of 3 hours per week of direct, face-to-face group therapy for a minimum of 4 to 6 months or as determined by the treatment team. The group meets one time per week for 3 hours. Recovery Maintenance provides participants with cognitive strategies and behavioral skills to help achieve positive and lasting change. Participants explore their common risk factors for returning to addictive behaviors and the range of exit strategies they can employ during times of risk. At least one individual counseling is to be provided monthly, and at least one family counseling is to be provided quarterly or as determined by the client and, or treatment team in addition to the therapeutic group. Co-occurring issues including, but not limited to, trauma, domestic violence, and mental illness are also addressed where applicable.

  • Substance Abuse Education Program

This program is designed to intervene in substance use by raising awareness of the effect that alcohol or drug use has on someone’s life and other people's lives. The program focuses on prevention, intervention, and treatment that will help prevent substance abuse. It consists of counseling for individuals and their families who want to learn more about substance abuse disorders and how they can help their family members struggling with addictive behaviors.

  • Residential Treatment

Will be assessed by staff for those clients who need an intensive amount of therapeutic intervention and other support to gain sobriety. Residential treatment is part of the primary rehabilitation phase and may be preceded by detoxification if warranted. Residential treatment should be followed by less intensive treatment and aftercare services within a continuum of care. This may include a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Facility or an Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Program. Obtaining approval of inpatient care facilities may require the following documentation:

    • A complete ASAM* indicates the level of care by the client.
    • Progress notes or a summary of progress from the client’s therapist or doctor attesting to the need for residential care.
    • An updated Individual Service Plan showing residential treatment as the primary intervention of the client.

*ASAM- (American Society of Addiction Medicine)

The ASAM Criteria will determine the Level of Care (LOC), a comprehensive set of guidelines for placement, continued stay, transfer, or discharge of patients with addiction and co-occurring conditions. The ASAM Criteria’s strength-based multidimensional assessment considers a patient's needs, obstacles, and liabilities, as well as their strengths, assets, resources, and support structure. This information determines the appropriate level of care across a continuum.
